How much does land clearing cost in Darwin?
It depends on the size of the block, how thick the vegetation is, whether stumps have to come out and what happens to the debris. A block that only needs slashing costs far less than one stripped to bare ground with everything carted away. We'll look at the block and give you a free quote.
Do I need a permit to clear my land?
Sometimes. Clearing native vegetation in the Northern Territory can need approval, and the rules differ depending on the size and zoning of your block. Check with your local council or the NT Government before booking. Maintaining an existing firebreak is usually more straightforward than clearing new ground.
What's the difference between slashing and full clearing?
Slashing cuts grass and light scrub down and leaves the ground and root systems intact, which suits maintenance and firebreaks. Full clearing removes the vegetation, stumps and roots and leaves bare ground ready to build on. Slashing is quicker and cheaper, so it's worth being clear about which one you actually need.
When should I get my firebreaks done?
Early is better. Cutting breaks while there's still some moisture in the ground gives a cleaner result and less dust, and it means you're not scrambling once fire season is underway. Our phone gets busy as the dry sets in, so book ahead if you can.
What happens to the trees and debris?
That's up to you. Debris can be stacked in a heap on site, or loaded into our tipper and carted away. Carting costs more but leaves the block clean. We'll price both so you can choose.
Can you clear around trees I want to keep?
Yes. Mark or point out anything you want kept and we'll work around it. It's worth walking the block with us before we start so nothing gets lost in the process.
Do you clear small suburban blocks as well as acreage?
Yes. Our bobcats and mini excavator suit tight suburban blocks and backyards, and we scale up to larger machines for acreage and bulk clearing. No job is too small to ask about.
How long does clearing a block take?
A small block that only needs slashing can be done in a few hours. A heavily overgrown acre with stumps and debris removal can take several days. We'll give you a realistic timeframe with your quote.
